Welcome to the ACTLab TV News Section, here are some of the latest happenings, to check out our news archive click here. 6/18/2007- ACTLab TV is proud to launch it's new website! With a new look and features, the website is set to impress, we have taken on the challenge of combining open source technology with creative commons work straight on. Our website is based off of Joomla, Gallery2 and a custom open source wiki written by one of our own coders Brandon Wiley. Our sites are completely search-able with features such as direct HTML importing of news and other powerful tools. Our video gallery works under Gallery2 and it's FFMPEG plug-in to provide an innovative environment where we are able to upload videos, create thumbnails and server virtually any video format all in one neat open source solution. To check out the gallery click here. Along with our innovative video gallery, we have also had a the pleasure of having a professional library scientest work on the creation and implementation of a tagging scheme for all of our videos. Please stay tune for more developments as we are working hard and fast to get the message out that open source software and copy left media are here to stay and with a little bit of help from everyone, we will be able to make our own "airwaves" without relying on corporate sponsors or other proprietary means. 5/31/2007- ACTLab TV is proud to announce the "Summer of Fun", last year we played host to the "Summer of Code" and this year we are taking a more focused look at the media side of our work, we have 8 interns working this summer on making new websites (such as the one you are looking at), video collections, photo collection, on-site installation projects, video projects and audio pieces. This summer is looking to be sunny and fun, bring your swimsuit! To check out who is involved this summer, check out our people page . |
